SUMMARY: Later,
Sri Madhwacharyaru defeated in a debate a perverted scholar called ‘JarAGhaTitagOtra’
and another person, who, on the power secured by him through the blessing of
his beloved divinity to subjugate even the most powerful and he had made
several scholars his serfs. Once, he(JarAGhaTitagOtra) obstructed a sacrifice
that a son of the Master of Sri Madhwaru had begun. This debate and defeat of
Jaraghatitagotra and another person took place in the presence of
BAlakanyApurADhipa and PashchimADhipa and other kings.
This incident happened during the installation of Sri
Krishna statue in connection with which a sacrifice, as part of the overall
ritual, was being performed. At that time, JarAGhaTitagOtra, who had
overpowered a vampire and had secured some mysterious power, began claiming
that none except he could complete any sacrifice. Sri Madhwaru personally met
him, challenged him in front of several heads of the region.
In Bhavaprakashika, it has been clearly mentioned that
Jaraghatitagotra was the name of a place and the person was called as
MaraDittAya. It is said that he was an occult devotee of Lord Rudra and that he
had impressed upon Lord Rudra through his devotion and had secured mysterious,
misleading powers. He was defeated by Sri Madhwaru.
