Srirama asks Sugreeva and others to return to their places and look after their subjects/
AadityAtmajAdeen prEShya “SugreevAdeen swaswarAjyarakShArTham prEshya” ಆದಿತ್ಯಾತ್ಮಜಾದೀನ್ ಪ್ರೇಷ್ಯ “ಸುಗ್ರೀವಾದೀನ್ ಸ್ವಸ್ವರಾಜ್ಯರಕ್ಷಾರ್ಥಂ ಪ್ರೇಷ್ಯ್” {आदित्यात्मजादीन् प्रॆष्य अर्थात् “सुग्रीवादीन् स्वस्वराज्यरक्षार्थं प्रॆष्य”} — Srirama sent Sugreeva and others to their respective States to protect their subjects.
Srirama honored Sugreeva and Vibheeshana with rich gifts, gems, diamonds and many other items. He expressed happiness and joy over the ‘assistance’ they had extended to Srirama in destroying the demons. He directed Sugreeva, Vibheeshana and others to return to their kingdoms and take care of their subjects. They prostrated before Srirama, saluted him by folding their hands and appealed to him:
“Oh Rama! Will anyone choose to take shelter under a palm tree while having shelter under the Coconut tree or Kalpavruksha that fulfills all the desires? We do not want to leave your feet and return to our States to protect our citizens because we will be involved in worldly affairs and our domestic chorus that lead to misdeeds. Please do not force us to return to our countries.”
Srirama replied softly: “You are both kings and the primary duty of every king is to protect his subjects. Discharging your bounden duty is service to me. Please return to your kingdoms and ensure that your citizens lead happy, peaceful and prosperous lives. That is as good as serving me and that is what I expect you to do.”
The duo returned to their countries.
King of Ikshwaku dynasty honored Lord Brahma with affection and compassion. Pleased with the considerate treatment, Lord Brahma presented a plane known as Sriranga Plane in which Sri Hari stays on Lord Shesha, the divine serpent. He is therefore known as Sheshasayi. Srirama gifted that Sriranga plane, that was being worshipped by all the precedent kings of Ikshwaku dynasty, to his dearest devotee Vibheeshana. On his return journey from Ayodhya to Lanka, Vibheeshana visited Sriranga Kshetra on the banks of Cauvery River. When he reached Sriranga, the Sun was about to set and Vibheeshana wanted to pay evening oblations. At that time, Lord Ganesha came there in the guise of a Brahmin boy. Vibheeshana handed over the plane to the Brahmin boy and asked him to preserve till his return. Vibheeshana went to the banks of Cauvery to pay oblations. However, Ganesha had put a condition that he would hold the plane till he could bear its weight. Whenever the weight of the plane was beyond his capacity to behold, he would call the name of Vibheeshana thrice and if the latter failed to return, he would put that plane on the ground. It so happened that Ganesha called the name of Vibheeshana thrice and since there was no response from the latter, Ganesha kept the plane on the ground and vanished. On his return, Vibheeshana saw that the place was lying on the ground and the Brahmin boy had vanished. Vibheeshana tried his best to lift the plane but did not succeed. He thought that it was the divine will and returned to Lanka. He is living in Lanka and he will be there till the end of this Kalpa.
Srirama summoned Sugreeva and said: “Dear Sugreeva! Please return to Kishkindha. Angada is still a boy. Keep him happy always. Look after your kingdom with passion and zeal. Finally, you may return to me along with the families of Sushena, Tara and other fellow beings.”
Sugreeva too returned to Kishkindha.
All the monkeys followed Sugreeva. A majority of them praised Srirama, saluted him again and again and departed with heavy hearts. Many of them were weeping and crying. They were unable to control the grief and nostalgia. Srirama took pity on them. He wanted to relieve their hearts from the pain of distress and despair. He entered their hearts like tiny moon so that they felt his presence till their last breath. He made them feel happy and blessed them all with sublime joy so that they had no feelings or thoughts of the negative side of family chorus.
Bharata installed as the Prince/ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಭರತನಿಗೆ ಯೌವರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಕ
YauvarAjyE Bharatam vyatanuta, meaning: “YauvarAjyE Bharatam vyatanuta”/ಯೌವರಾಜ್ಯೇ ಭರತಂ ವ್ಯತನುತ “ಯೌವರಾಜ್ಯೇ ಭರತಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ”{यौवराज्यॆ भरतं व्यतनुत, अर्थात् “यौवराज्यॆ भरतं कृत्वा”}
This means, Srirama installed Bharata on the throne of the Prince.
Initially, Srirama summoned Lakshmana and said: “Dear Lakshmana, I am very much impressed and pleased with the service you have rendered to me since your birth. You have been following me like my shadow and doing great service to me. I have no words to express my pleasure and appreciation in this regard. Hence, I want you to be the Prince. You can have all the comfort, luxury and pleasure of being the Prince. You can forget the past sorrows, the pains you suffered and the misery you faced.”
Lakshmana politely replied: “Your Honor! It may be true that life in heavens or salvation is most pleasurable and it is the ultimate happiness that anyone may long for. But, I have no pleasure in these common posts. The happiness I get by serving you is inexplicable and I do not want anything else. Please do not deprive me of that bliss.”
Srirama was pleased with the devotion of Lakshmana. He embraced his younger brother
with compassion and love. He asked Bharata to become the Prince and installed Bharata on the throne of Prince of Ayodhya.
Srirama looked at the Pushpak plane that was still there. He told the plane: “Please return to your owner Kubera and come to me whenever I call you.” The plane flew back to Kubera.
