#Hanumantha launches the search for Seetha Devi in
Lanka/
ಲಂಕಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನುಮಂತನಿಂದ ಸೀತಾನ್ವೇಷಣೆ
One should not enter an enemy’s den from front door.
Therefore, Hanumantha did not enter Lanka from the front door. He climbed the
fort wall and jumped into Lanka. One should not keep the right leg first while
entering an enemy’s errand and hence Hanumantha put his left leg first while
landing inside Lanka. He entered Lanka when the demons were in deep sleep and
Hanumantha felt like making that night’s sleep of demons as the last one.
Every single building in Lanka was multistoried and
high like the towers on Mount Mandara. Hanumantha entered each every house and
searched for Seetha Devi. Arrogant, adamant, unruly, wicked, capricious,
sensuous, in disciplined and un-attentive demons of different shape, size were
seen by Hanumantha in different postures. Some of them were doing romance with
their wives, some were performing sacrifice, some were doing meditation and
some were silent. The city vigilant force holding different types of weapons was
seen throughout the city. Hanumantha searched the royal houses of Vibheeshana,
Kumbhakarna, Shurpanakha, Prahasta and several other prominent demons. He saw
the Pushpak plane.
Hanumantha felt that he had covered the entire length
and breadth of Lanka, including the palace of Ravana, the apartments of queens
and Mandodari. As he could not find Seetha anywhere, Hanumantha was worried for
a while. When he had lost all hopes of finding Seetha Devi and was seriously
contemplating on what would happen if he were to return without seeing Seetha
Devi, it occurred to the mind of Hanumantha that he should once visit Ashoka
Vana, the royal garden of Ravana. He climbed one of the tallest trees to locate
Ashoka Vana. He began surveying the entire city of Lanka to locate Ashoka Vana.
The enchanting environs of Ashoka Vana at almost handshaking distance from
where he was staying caught the attention of Hanumantha. He was fully excited
to see Ashoka Vana.
