SUMMARY: On the exterior as bark called Twak, in that the skin, in that
flesh, in that blood, in that fat (Medhas), in that marro (Majja), in that the
bones and in them the cluster of forty-nine Maruts; in them, Sri Hari addressed
variously as Nidhana, Hinkara, Sama and others corresponding to those names, is
present in the elements in forty-nine forms.
There are seven elements in the body known as Twak, skin and so on. In
each of these seven elements, seven Maruts are present and in each of these
seven Maruts, Sri Hari is present in seven separate forms and with seven
different names and hence Sri Hari is present in every human body in forty-nine
forms with forty-nine names.
In general ‘Nidhana’ means death. But, in the context of this stanza, it
is one of the names of seven elements. Description of this narrative is
mentioned in Chandogyopanishat and its commentary (Bhashya).
