SUMMARY: Sri Hari, like Mandara,
fulfills all desires and aspirations of his devotees; he remains unchanged,
eternally; he is kind, consort of Goddess Lakshmi (Lakshmipati); delivers
demands of devotees; he is the best of all beings; he is most sane; he
possesses the best and most pleasant virtues; a close ally of Pandavas; he is
unparalleled; he is an embodiment of joy; he is an epitome of sports and other
pleasures; he is the subject of all praise and flatter and if any one prays by
saying all these things with devotion, he reaches out to them and takes care of
them.
The virtues and attributes of
Lord Hari are infinite, beyond description and beyond the boundary of any
dialect or vocabulary. However, even if some of the attributes are employed in
the prayers with conviction, dedication and devotion, Lord Hari will rush
towards such devotees. Pretension should be forbidden.
Mandara is a celestial or
heavenly or divine tree, along with Parijata and Kalpavruksha. These three
trees in heavens are known to deliver anything that anyone may seek, with
unbiased submission. “Aa ramayateeti mandAraha” is the explanatory statement of
this word. It signifies that the Lord protects and takes care of dullards,
idiots and insensitive people too.
He is “Shashwata”, which
literally means permanent. A permanent thing remains unchanged, unaltered,
intact and single for all times.
Although “PArThasaKha” indicates
that Lord Krishna was an intimate friend of Arjuna, Dharmaraya, Bheemasena and
Karna are also sons of Kunti and therefore they are known as Parthas. Nakula and
Sahadeva are sons of Madreeya and therefore they are known as Madreeyas. Yet,
since these two sons of Madri were brought up by Kunti, they are also called as
Parthas.
Krishna, in a way, conspired with
Arjuna to get Karna killed by Arjuna. But, Krishna taught Karna several human values
and purified his heart and mind before death. Therefore, Karna is also a
Parthasakha.
“Deva” and “VareNya” are in
Gayitri Mantra. Prayers offered with the recitation of Gayitri Mantra and other
Vedic hymns also impress Lord Hari.
