SUMMARY: “Oh my pupils! You are all proud of your bravery and strength! Now, pounce on me together, at once and while doing so, if anyone abstains from employing all his strength, then it amounts to disobedience and an offence of violating my orders.”

This order of Sri Madhwaru was quite strange and shocking to the disciples. Sri Madhwaru was challenging his disciples for a physical attack or confrontation. Thinking that some of the disciples might claim to have employed only a part of their real strength on the pretext of reverence to the Guru, Sri Madhwaru makes it mandatory for all the disciples to not only attack him together, in one bunch, but also use their full strength and energy.

SUMMARY: Challenging those fifteen young disiples in that manner, he pushed all of them down at once, even as they had pounced on him with all their force, strength and energy, told them “anyone capable of getting out of my clutches can do so, now” and smiled.

It was not surprising that Sri Madhwaru vanquished all the fifteen disciples with a single blow and instantly because he was an incarnation of Lord Vayu. He was Hanuman and Bheemasena in his two previous lives.

SUMMARY: Then, “Master, each and every organ and even each finger of yours is weighing on us like Mount Meru. Oh kind hearted, please relieve us before our demise”, all the disciples appealed to him in a single voice.

Such was the stranglehold of Sri Madhwaru that none of the disiples could shake a finger of Sri Madhwaru. This reminds of the way Hanuman killed Akshaya Kumara and thousands of demons after destroying the Ashoka Vana and Bheemasena killing all the one hundred Kauravas.

Sri Madhwaru wanted to show his inherent strength to the disciples.

SUMMARY: Later, after getting relieved from Sri Madhwacharyaru, the disciples, who realized that he, with sheer wink of whose eyes, the entire universe, along with Lord Rudra, Lord Indra and other deities, would get motivated, energised and activised, was none other than the incarnation of Lord Vayu; they were all surprised for not realizing this truth.

This incident also proved that Sri Madhwaru was not ageing or getting older with the passage of years. He was not subject to physical deterioration like ordinary men.

SUMMARY: In the Ocean that was like the most fascinating, infinite Upanishats, Srirama, who was not different from Vedavyasaru, wanted his army to walk across easily and construct an aesthetically beautiful bridge, told, like  the linking thread, or in other words, indicated it, his ever-obedient servant Hanumantha, under the new name Sri Anandatirtha, constructed this easily accessible bridge with unfathomable mountain-like proofs drawn from various places or Shastras.

The boulders and mountains brought from various places under the guidance of Lord Hanumantha were the basic ingredients for the construction of the bridge. Sri Ananda Tirtharu drew references from various authentic sources to purport his Dwaita philosophy and to disprove various other interpretations of Vedas and other Scriptures.
Sri Vadirajaru has compared those references from different sources that Sri Madhwacharyaru has drawn to establish his school of thought to the mountains that Hanumantha had brought from different places for the construction of the bridge. Sri Madhwaru brought to light the ultimate truth that Lord Vishnu is the Supreme God to provide the pious and spirituous people with that knowledge that would pave the way to them for salvation. Sri Madhwaru has quoted and cited several evidences from Puranas in his works.

SUMMARY: Intent on rendering some service to Sri Madhwacharyaru, divine river Ganga cleaved into a chasm, broke the earth and gushed near him; when Sri Bharati Devi, who is revered and saluted by Shiva and other dieties, too indends to serve Sri Madhwacharyaru and feel honored, is it so surprising that Ganga rushed towards him in this manner?

The expression “ShAKhAvishEShENa” has been interpreted in Sri Chalari VyAKhyAna as follows:

“MaDhwADhiShThitamaThasameepE kasyachit vrukShavishEShasya shAKhAvishEShENa upalakShitAm|”

“Ganga manifested through a branch of a tree” and her presence could be felt from a little change in the warmth of the water.

The details pertaining to Sri Bharati Devi serving the feet of Lord Vayu are mentioned in Sri Vayustuti by Sri Trivikramapanditacharyaru:

SUMMARY: That Bhageerati physically manifested in front of Sri Madhwacharyaru and saluted him from a little distance. The disciples, who saw her, an embodiment of modesty and undescribable charm, were highly bewildered.

Since the Ganga descended due to the arduous penance of King Bhageeratha, she came to be known as Bhageerathi.

Having flown for a long distance as a stream of Ganga, the goddess appeared in person in front of Sri Madhwacharyaru. The reverence and devotion that the disciples had for Sri Madhwaru was enhanced several times after seeing the most beautiful female form of Bhageerathi. The description of Ganga by Shantanu mentioned in in Mahabharata Tatparya NirNaya is quite pertinent to recall: “RUpam suravarastreeNAm tava” — “रूपं सुरवरस्तीणां तव।”

Once, Balarama had gone to Vrindavan and beckoned Yamuna to come to him. But, Yamuna disobeyed him. Enraged by her attitude, Balarama took his Yoke to pull her. Frightened by the wrath of Balarama, Yamuna hurriendly ran to him. This information find mention in Bhagavata and Mahabharata. However, in this context, Ganga first came to Ananta Sarovar in Udupi after Sri Madhwaru returned from Kashi. For the second time, Ganga came to him voluntarily, without a semblance of request by Sri Madhwaru, which symbolically indicates that Lord Vayu is above Sri Shesha Devaru (Balarama) in rank and file.

SUMMARY: Later, once he, destroyer of sins, went to Kashi. When he was on an excursion, he saw some of his strong disciples were proud and needed to be taught a lesson. Therefore, he told them.

This incident relates to the second sojourn of Sri Madhwaru to Badari, when, on his way, he was staying in Kashi, along with his disciples. At that time, Sri Madhwaru was about 50 years of age and naturally, the average age of his disciples was around 30 years. Because of the youthful exhuberance and spirit, some of the well-built disciples were thinking that they were stronger than their Guru. Sri Madhwaru must have heard or perceived the whispers among the disciples. Hence, Sri Madhwaru wanted to display his valor. This incident also indicates the forethought and sensibility of Sri Madhwaru.

What Sri Madhwaru told his disciples and what happened later will be described in the next episode.
