SUMMARY: Like a father and sons pronounce sama Pravara (this is the process of declaring the Gotra and the name of a person), Gotra (there are 49 gotras in all, named after a Rishi from whom any family, especially Brahmin family, is said to have evolved) and pay obeisance or perform Sandhyavandana (thrice a day), each and every person pronounces his name separately, consort of Sri Lakshmi, Lord Sri Hari is adored as the Lord, even as he exists in every body, does and gets done several good and bad acts from the body.

It is a known fact that Sri Hari alone performs and gets all acts performed by each and every being, whether those acts are sane, holy or are insane, unpleasant. The actions and thoughts of every being are dependent upon their previous births or the Karmas of previous life. Although each and every act and thought is under the directions, wishes and instructions of Lord Hari, he remains untouched by their repercussions or consequences. The acts and thoughts that are divided into three categories and combinations thereof as Rajas, Tamas and Satwik may or may not attract good things or results or attract negative energy (sinful acts and thoughts). However, Sri Hari is not the recipient of any of the consequences of those acts and thoughts of beings, he has himself designed, executed and monitored. This is his supreme power.

SUMMARY: Like the fire burns and separates the rust stuck on a metal, a stone named Gharatta separates rice from paddy bran, Sri Hari Vitthala drives away all the pains and troubles of a person who forgets self and calls the name of the Lord vociferously and the Lord will keep that person within himself and protects that person.

SUMMARY: In the sea, the aquatic animals move about whimsically and enjoy in places they go around; similarly, Lotus Lord (Padmanabha) in Sri Hari, Lord Brahma, who originates from Lotus flower, Lord Shiva, who burnt Tripurasura, Lord Indra, who has eyes all over the body and several clusters of gods and demi gods, act, every day.

The principal point being made clear in this stanza is that all the gods and demi gods, goddesses are reliant on Lord Sri Hari and his directive like the aquatic animals depend entirely on water.

Nalinababha is the name of Sri Hari as he is the Lord of Lotus; Abja means Lotus and hence AbjaBhava means Lord Brahma who resides in Lotus. Polal means town or city. Muppolal refers to one who has three towns or cities and he is known as Tripurasura, a demon. MuppoLaluriga refers to Lord Shiva as ‘uriga’ means one who burns.

Maiganna means one who has eyes all over the body, which refers to Lord Indra.

SUMMARY: Along with elderly saints, Sri Madhwacharyaru swiftly walked across a long distance, approached Padmatirtha, who had camped in a village called Yekavata, frightened him with his words, stopped him from escaping, defeated him in the argument and emerged victorious. When he (Padmatirtha) wrongly said “Lord Almighty, who is within us, is aware of all this”, everyone jeered at him.

There are a few words with two meanings in this stanza. SAryaha means Arjuna with his elder brother as well as with elderly saints; GOgaNaihi means cluster of speakers (vAggaNa) and cluster of arrows; samyamya means stopping him and arresting him. AntaryAntrukAmEna means both with the grace of Lord Hari within and Manmatha, the motivator inside the mind; similarly, ‘sri’ means Jayasri or goddess of victory as well as Draupadi.

SUMMARY: Just as a Lion does not pardon a pig that causes the death of its cub, Sri Madhwaru, an incarnation of Lord Vayu, decided to punish Padmatirtha for stealing his Madhwacharya’s) holy books from his (Madhwa’s) kindly and lonely  Shankara Pandit; Sri Madhwar had no intention of pardoning him (Padmatirtha) for stealing the books.

SauKhyadAKhyam means Shankara Pandita, who had been appointed to protect books witten by Sri Madhwaru. “DuShTAtmAsau BhadramEkAkinam” can be interpreted as “DuShTAtmA asau Bhadram yEkAkinam” referring to Shankara Pandit and also as “DuShTAtmA SauBhadram yEkAkinam” referring to ABhimanyu.

It is said that Shankara Pandit had been assigned with the task of protecting the Holy Texts of Sri Madhwacharyaru. When Shankara Pandit was alone, Padmatirtha stole away the books, deceitfully.

Vishnurahasya and other holy texts vividly describe this aspect where human beings are told not to worry about anything like victory, defeat, profit or loss or any such things in life. One should take life as it comes and leave everything to the Lord.

SUMMARY: Deceitful fox and proponent of Mayavada named Pundareekapuri, who had earlier been honored by people as Shardula or Tiger, ended up being a titular tiger after aiming to confront the Lion that could vanquish all the so-called Tigers of Mysticism, Sri Madhwacharyaru.

Before facing Sri Madhwacharyaru, Pundareekapuri was being hailed as the Tiger of Mayavada as none could win over him. He was well versed in Mayavada or Mysticism. However, he fell precariously short of putting up any sort of argument in front of Sri Madhwacharyaru, the Lion of Dwaita Siddhanta and therefore Pundareekapuri, who was earlier called as “Panditashardula” became “MayigOmAyu”, a names-sake Tiger or a mere fox.

SUMMARY: With his Shree (Draupadi Devi), who was the subject of love for Sri Vedavyasa, in the form of his philosophical works, having been abducted by the evil-minded Saindhava by name “Padmatirtha”, Arjuna-like supreme scholar Sri Anandatirtharu came to know about it.

The incident of Jayadratha abducting Draupadi, who was under the protection of Dhaumya, is mentioned in Mahabharata. Arjuna came to know about the abduction, chases Jayadratha, punishes him and gets back Draupadi. In this stanza, it is said that Pundareekapuri stole the works of Sri Madhwacharyaru with the hope of reading all of them and defeating Sri Madhwaru in the debate. It is like someone stealing away the Hindu Calendar Panchanga with an intention of controlling the movement of Sun and other planets. Stealing the books or studying the books alone cannot empower a person with the kind of knowledge that could confront Lion like Sri Madhwaru, is what is stated in this stanza.

KrishNABheeShTA means a beloved of Sri Krishna or Krishne, which refers to Draupadi. It was Sri Krishna who saved her honor and respect from the hands of Duryodhana and Dushshasana when the duo try to ill treat her.

Pundareekapuri is also known as “LikuchaShankara” as he had proclaimed himself as the exponent of Mayavada.
