SUMMARY: The one thousand six hundred and twenty-four forms Sri Hari, known as BhAraBhrut, exists everywhere in all the inanimate objects. If one thinks of ten of these forms in inanimate or solid objects and sixteen forms in animate things, then he (Sri Hari) will display his form to such a person, everywhere.

The Ten forms to be eternally remembered means the five sensor organs and the ten forms in five elements. The sixteen forms in animate beings comprise of five sensory organs, five active organs, five elements and the mind. SUMMARY: Worship the consort of Sri Lakshmi, Lord Sri Hari, invoking the two thousand and eight forms of the Lord in every object; seek the boons; meditate; what is the use in vainly drowning in water and counting fingers in sunlight? Will not the proper masters/mentors and elderly reveal the secret, if one follows them?

The total number of forms indicated through the usage of three words namely Bharabhrut, Aadhara and Aadheya are: 1624+242+142=2008. There is no use in taking dips in holy waters or counting the names of the Lord in fingers in broad daylight, without thinking of the two thousand and eight forms of the Lord everywhere and in everything. Performance of puja or worship without this basic knowledge is futile, states Sri Jagannathadasaru in this stanza.

श्मॆरास्यचन्द्रः स्मरतां महॆन्द्रक्ष्मारुट् प्रसन्नः क्षपयत्वघं नः॥३॥

SUMMARY: May Lord Sriranganatha, who is praised by deities and Siddhas; who is an ocean of kindness; who is the intimate relative of poets; who wears a pleasant smile on his Moon-like face; who is the Kalpavruksha of all those who keep him in eternal memory and who is always ready to bestow boons, clear all our sins.

Sri Vadirajaru has dedicated six stanzas to describe Sriranganatha Swamy in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. The temple dedicated to Sri Ranganatha Swamy at Srirangam covers about 166 acres of land. It is said that no other temple in India covers such a large space as Sriranganatha Swamy Temple, Srirangam. There are seven huge towers before the sanctum sanctorum and the entire temple is almost like a separate township.

Sri Narayana had presented a self-manifest statue to Lord Brahma. Ikshwaku, son of Vaivaswata Manu, did penance and secured the statue, which was placed in a plane and was known as Ranganatha.  Since then, the Ranganatha-named statue of Sri Narayana remained the family deity of all the kings born in Surya Vamsha or Sun’s Dynasty. During Tretayuga, Chola king Dharmavarma had gone to participate in an Ashwamedha Yajna performed by Dasharatha. Dasharatha had sent a special invitation to Dharma Varma to the sacrifice. After seeing the statue of Sriranganatha in the palace of Dasharatha, Dharma Varma developed a special attachment to that statue and became very keen on possessing that statue. He launched a fierce penance to get that statue. But, several scholarly Maharishis and saints told him that Lord Ranganatha would come there in person and hence he should wait till the Lord arrived there.

After killing Ravana, Srirama returned to Ayodhya and ascended the throne. As part of the coronation ceremony, Srirama gave gifts to everyone. Vibheeshana then appealed to Srirama to give the statue of Ranganatha. Srirama happily handed over the statue of Ranganatha Swamy, along with the plane in which the statue was placed.

When Vibheeshana was returning to Lanka with that statue, the deities did not want that statue to be taken to Lanka. When Vibheeshana reached the island of Chandrapushkarini, a holy pond, it was dusk and hence he had to pay obeisance. Hence, he kept the statue near the pond, paid the obeisance and tried to take the statue. He could not shake that statue with all the efforts. He appealed to Lord Ranganatha for help. Sriranganatha then told him: “Dear Vibheeshana, this Chandrapushkarini is very sacred. King Dharma Varma had done fierce penance to have me here. Rishis told him that I will come to this place on my own will and hence I have come here. Do not be worried. I will be turning my face towards Lanka and you may come to this place, have my Darshan here every day and return to Lanka.” Vibheeshana was satisfied and returned to Lanka. Since then, he used to come to Srirangam every day for Darshan. Once, when he was rushing towards Srirangam on his chariot, a Brahmin accidentally came under the wheel of his chariot and died. Enraged by this accident, the local Brahmins caught Vibheeshana and were trying to kill him. However, due to the blessings of Srirama, Vibheeshana did not die. The Brahmins decided to put him in a dark prison. Srirama came to know about this through Narada and he promptly arrived at Srirangam in the Pushpak plane. After getting honored and worshipped by the Brahmins, Srirama asked them to bring Vibheeshana. The Brahmins narrated the story of a Brahmin having been killed under the wheel of the chariot of Vibheeshana. Srirama said: Any crime committed by servant is as good as having been committed by the master. Vibheeshana is my servant hence you release him and give any punishment to me.” The Brahmins were moved by the love shown by Rama towards his devotee and released Vibheeshana. Since then, Vibheeshana is believed to come to Srirangam every day, have Darshan and return to Lanka, without being visible to anyone. Therefore, Sriranganatha Swamy temple in Srirangam is considered to be very sacred.

SUMMARY: Till the Earth was being protected by Srirama, it (Earth) was same as Brahmaloka. Having observed this situation, the deities appealed to Lord Rudra, who requested Srirama to return to his abode (Vaikuntha).

The three Lokas (worlds) namely Anantasana, Shwetadweepa and Vaikuntha of Sri Hari are better than all other worlds, in every respect. The Satya Loka of Lord Brahma is ranked second in the order of merits. Indra Loka and other worlds come below these two worlds. During the rule of Srirama, life on Earth was better than the life in Indra Loka and other Lokas. Irked by the prevailing condition, Indra and other deities approached Lord Brahma and told the latter:

“Our worlds should return to their earlier position of being better than Earth. With his presence there on Earth, Lord Srirama has transformed the Earth into being better than our worlds. Please request Srirama to leave the Earth and return to his worlds.”

Lord Brahma pondered over the situation:

“The Earth, which was earlier lowest ranked world compared to other worlds, has now become equal to my Loka. The reason for this is that Srirama is physically living there. If Srirama abstains from living on earth, Indra Loka, other Lokas, including mine, will become far superior to Earth. But, I should not go down to Earth and request Srirama to relocate to his worlds as such an appeal to Srirama will have two defects. Firstly, if I request Srirama to make my world to be better than Earth, it is like exhibiting envy. Secondly, I will be committing the sin of making Srirama from a noble status of being the Emperor to something else. The righteous will certainly mistake me for these two fallacies. Therefore, I should not request Srirama to return to his world.

My son and grandson of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rudra, who is always meditating SriramatarakaMantra and has secured special affection from Sri Hari, alone can request Srirama to return to his world. There is no doubt about Srirama honoring the request of Rudra.”

Lord Brahma conveyed his decision to all the deities and after the deities endorsed the view of Lord Brahma, summoned Rudra and directed him to go to Srirama and explain the situation in detail, before requesting Srirama to return to Vaikuntha.

Lord Rudra met Srirama in tranquility and appealed to Rama to Vaikuntha, as desired by all the deities, including Brahma and Indra. Before Lord Rudra started speaking to Srirama, the latter asked Lakshmana to send away the regular doorkeeper and take his position. Lord Rudra told Srirama:

“Oh Lord, since you are here physically, Earth has now become more meritorious than any other Loka, except, perhaps, your Vaikuntha Loka. All the deities are worried because Earth has now become a better place due to your presence here, physically. Earlier, people on Earth were offering prayers to all the deities to go to heaven and other celestial worlds. But now, they do not have such desires. I have been assigned the duty of destroying lives. Any request to you to disappear from Earth is equal to asking you to die, which is not proper on my part to appeal to you. However, the responsibility you have fixed on me includes the eligibility to request you to disappear from Earth. If I do not request you, as per the desires of all deities, it amounts to dereliction of duty. Therefore, I am appealing to you to end your physical presence from Earth.

All of us had appealed to you to relieve Earth from the insane acts of Ravana and Kumbhakarna, which you have already done. You have restored culture and tradition on Earth. You have done everything that you wanted to do on Earth. No task is pending and even if something remains to be done, you will do so by staying in the Vaikuntha.”

Srirama replied: “Rudra, you have not said anything wrong and Brahma has done the right thing by sending you to convey the desires of deities. I agree with all of you and I have decided to return to my abode in a few days.”

In the next episode, the intervention of Durvasa will be explained.

SUMMARY: The Turkish king, who was standing atop his apartment and was seeing the stately charming, tall Sri Madhwacharyaru, whose physique was so strong and stoic that no deity or demon could shake, said the following words.

The Turkish king was standing on the roof of his royal apartment and watching everythin that was going on on the banks of Ganga between his soldiers and Sri Madhwacharyaru. He was very much surprised by the way Sri Madhwacharyaru crossed the river and spoke in the dialect to his soldiers.

SUMMARY: “Oh Great person with a smiling countenance! How could you not be tortured or tormented by my guards, who are most unkind like the servants of Lord Yama and are very keen on torturing anyone entering the city as they suspect everyone to be the spies from the enemy’s side?”

The Turkish king was surprised by the fearlessness of Sri Madhwaru. The king had instructed his soldiers and security forces to be merciless towards intruders. The merciless guards could do nothing, even as Sri Madhwaru crossed not only the gushing waters of Ganga, along with his pupils, but also the barricade of security forces on the river banks.

SUMMARY: “Oh Lord! How did you cross this Ganga River without any boat? What do you want to do next?” the king enquired, and Sri Madhwacharyaru, the ardent servant of Lord Sri Hari, replied thus.

Since the reply of Sri Madhwaru needs greater elaboration, the stanza No. 17 will be interpreted in the next episode.
