प्रीत्यै विष्णॊरुत्तमप्रीतितीर्थॊ वॆदव्याख्यां वॆदवॆदी चकार॥29॥

SUMMARY: Sri Ananda Tirtha justified his philosophy with unparalleled, unique but quite common testimonies, testaments and authentications and defeated that Pundareekapuri in the debate. With his deep and thorough knowledge of Vedas, Sri Ananda Tirtharu began delivering commentaries on Vedas to demonstrate his devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Sri Chalari Achar elaborates this incident:

PunDareekapuriNA saha vAdakaThAyAm taduktasidDhAntam vEdAdi prabalapramANairnirasya tam niruttareekrutya Tataha swakeeyasidDhAntam samarThya parAjitasya gamanAnantaram punarapi ViShNupreetyarTham vEdavyAKhyAnam chakAra AnandatirThAchArya iti BhAvaha||

There is an argument that in a debate involving arguments there is no need to establish or justify any philosophy. However, when the discussion is about the validity and reality of a certain school of thought, then it is not only necessary to establish a philosophy but also justify it with authentication and testimonies drawn from Holy Scriptures, say scholars.

SUMMARY: Brahmins who could recite Vedas without committing any textual or grammatical errors, without any flaw in the accent, had assembled in that session in large numbers; sitting around Sri Madhwacharyaru, who was very attractive and was most supreme among Vedic scholars, and began observing him keenly.

AmnAya means Vedas. It is described as “AmnAyO(s)nyaThA pAThAt - आम्नायॊsन्यथा पाठात्” in ViShNutattwanirNaya, Brahmandapurana. Even literally, anything that cannot be altered or pronounced differently is called Veda.

SUMMARY: The deities watching Sri Madhwacharyaru pronouncing consonants such as “K”, pronouncing every single letter from the specified spot and maintaining accuracy in long and short sounds of vowels, submitting the three stages of hymns such as Pashyanti, Madhyama and Vaikhari to respective deities, remembered Lord of Lords Narayana with great reverence.

There are rules and norms to pronounce hymns. While pronouncing the hymns, the concerned deities and their specific qualities should be remembered besides thinking about creation, existence and destruction.

SUMMARY: Thorn, sand or other obstructions do not affect the footwear; any person remembers with full devotion and committed belief the form of Hrusheekesha Sri Hari as being present in the eleven organs, incessantly gets automatically cleared of all sins or crimes. None of the crimes will prevent him from attaining Moksha or salvation.

This is said to be with reference to Aparoksha Jnanis or those who have, through arduous penance and cultural practices, secured divine strength to perfectly know the past, present and future. Just as the footwear protects the feet from getting hurt or injured by thorns, stones etc., devotion to Lord Sri Hari or Hrishikesha protects the human beings from all types of sins or crimes.

This information finds mention in Sutra Bhashya, Brahmanda Purana and Bhagavata.

SUMMARY: Like the Nanda deepa (an oil lamp that is lit in front of the Lord and is expected to be burning without getting extinguished), one should keep on worshipping the Lord Sri Hari as described by Vedas, without seeking even one of the four goals of life called Purushartha, enjoying whatever Lord Hari has given and should be remembering at each and every step that son, wife, life, sensory organs and mind are all subordinate to Almighty Lord Sri Hari.

This total surrender to Lord Hari has been explained in almost every Holy Scripture or text. If such a state of mind cannot be achieved, the life steeps into deeper sorrow.

This perception has been explained in detail in Sadachara Smruti, EshavAsyOpaniShat as well as Dwadasha Stotra.

SUMMARY: Those pro-Mayavada scholars, who had assembled in Udupi and wanted to condemn Sri Madhwacharyaru in debate and discourses, prepared an acclaimed scholar called Pundareekapuri, who hated saints, for a debate.

For those scholars of Mayavada, the intention to disfame Sri Madhwacharyaru was more than participating in a sensible, effective and unambiguous scholarly debate.

SUMMARY: Like a dog longing for unconsummable developing desire to have a lion to eat; a one-eyed crow going after swan; a deceitful fox trying to chase a tiger, foolish Pundareekapuri invited Sri Madhwacharyaru, the most knowledgeable and an accomplished scholar, for a deliberation/an argument.

Pandareekapuri, whose knowledge and idealogy was against the Vedas and other holy texts, used to compare himself with Brahma, a filthy thought and therefore he has been reminisced here to dog, which loves to play with wrotten things; Pundareeka believed that Lord Brahma alone is truth and everything else was false and hence Pundareeka has been compared with crows, which have single eye.

SUMMARY: Sri Madhwacharyaru, who was indefatigable and an epitome of radiation, did not ignore the mean, frail and a head of incapable group of persons, Pundareekapuri, like the fire, which naturally dazzles with flames that is difficult to bear.

SUMMARY: Oh aquatic Matsya, hill-beholding Koorma, Earth-adoring Varaha, Victory to you. Oh Lord Sri Hari Narasihma, Victory to you. Oh Lord Vamana, Lord Trivikrama, victory to you. Bhrugurama Parashurama, the most complete supreme Lord, Victory to you. Oh Lord, husband of Janaka’s daughter Seetha, victory to you. Oh Lord Krishna who fulfilled the desire or wish of Rugmini, hail you. Oh Lord Buddha, who enticed and lured Jina and others, Victory to you. Oh Kalki who slit Kai, Victory to you and Victory to you Lord Sankarshana, the favorite of victory.

“Vanachara” means aquatic.  Jina refers to Shuddhodana and the first incarnation among Tripurasuras.

JayAramana means the beloved of Jaya or Goddess Lakshmi.

SUMMARY: The form of Lord Jagannatha Vitthala is  Sachchidananda or true pleasure; his lotus feet are worshipped by Lord Brahma with his hands; he is the best and supreme among Gods and Goddesses; he bestows the best  welfare; he is eternally present in the heart of Sri Madhwacharyaru; he is indestructible; he doused or consumed the wild fire in deep forest and relieved the cows, and he never lets down the devotees who worship him with a pure heart and mind.

Sachchidananda is a compound word which can be separated as “Sat” good, ‘chit’ means mind; Ananda means happiness.

While there is no doubt about the fact that Sri Hari is omnipresent, the fact that Lord Hari, because of his affection and compassion for Lord Vayu, his presence in Sri Madhwacharyaru is most certain.

This concludes the Sarvaprateeka Sandhi, the Chapter X.

SUMMARY: “Lord Brahma is undescribable. As established by the Shastra principles that through magic powers or mystic powers everything becomes possible and how we try to spread our philosophy, we should accomplish our task without divulging our hidden opinion and we should achieve our goal through mystic (deceitful or pretentious) power and we should trouble everyone who obstructs our way.”

This was perhaps a mission undertaken by the followers of Mayavada especially in the face of stiff challenge that had arised due to the fast spreading, highly appreciated and most perfect Dwaita philosophy.

SUMMARY: In villages after villages, we should follow saama (friendly relationship) and other methods or modems to ensure that the honor being showered on preachers of Madhwamata is stopped in advance. If they enter the village, persons among us assigned with insulting and disfaming them should become active and start stealing their holy books and other things.

“Stealing Books (granThApaharaNa)” also means breaking the clubs that saints carry and beating the saints. This stanza indicates that the followers of  Mayavada were indulging in most heinous acts of tormenting the followers of Dwaita philosophy.

SUMMARY: Deceitful followers of Mayavada thus hatched conspiracy and unleashed physical and psychological torture on the devotee of Lord Sri Hari, who wears the Divine Disc, and put up a strong opposition to the spread of Dwaita philosophy. Otherwise, how could they qualify themselves to drown in the horrible ocean containing the waters called AndhatAmisra?

This stanza makes a point that the hatred adopted by the followers of Mayavada against the most distinguished devotee of Sri Hari and an incarnation of Lord Vayu, Sri Madhwacharya, only pushed those antegonists towards darkness of total lack of real knowledge.

Tamas and Andhantamas are two most horrible and eternal hells, where there is infinite, unending and eternal misery, pain and sorrow just as the Moksha provides eternal bliss and happiness, comfort and joy. The Andhantamas has been described vividly in Srimadbhagavata, Puranas, Sri Harivayustuti and Bhoogolanirnaya of Sri Vadirajaru.
