SUMMARY: In this manner, everyone should consume the food by remembering that Lord Hari is existing in different food items in different forms. It is essential to know that Lord Hari is the provider of everything — food, shelter, taste, wealth, comfort, luxury and anything and everything under the Sun — He alone keeps the subjects in the belly; He directs, monitors and takes care of everything; Thinking that He is everywhere (Omnipresent), one should remain detached, leave the concepts or feelings of sinful and good deeds unto his discretion.
It should be perceived that it is Lord Hari who provides food, bakes the grains in fire, puts the food in our mouth through hands, passes the food through the throat into the intestines, stays in the stomach in a different form and assimilates the food. If the food is consumed with this feeling of dedication, then negative energy associated with certain Tamas food items will also be nullified.

In Yogadeepika, the following Shloka describes this feature of Lord Hari:

SRI #VADIRAJA VIRACHITA “#TEERTHA #PRABANDHA” ಶ್ರೀ ವಾದಿರಾಜ ವಿರಚಿತ “#ತೀರ್ಥ #ಪ್ರಬಂಧ”

SRI  #VADIRAJA VIRACHITA “#TEERTHA #PRABANDHA”

The tears of joy that flew from the eyes of Lord Rudra after he was permitted to reside in Kashi formed a pond, which is now known as Bindu Sarovar and Sri Madhawa, who was there already, came to be called as Bindu Madhava.
Sri Naradeeya Purana provides better insight into the solemnity of Kashi:
VArANasee tu BhuvanatrayasAraBhUtA ramyA nruNAm sugatidA kila sEvyamAnA|
AtrAgatA viviDhaduShkrutakAriNO(s)pi pApakShayE virajasaha sumanaha prakAshAha||

अत्रागता विविधदुष्कृतकारिणॊsपि पापक्षयॆ विरजसः सुमनः प्रकाशाः॥
Varanasi is the holiest of places on earth and it is very beautiful; whoever visits this place will certainly get relieved from the cycles of birth and death; even the most wretched criminals, arrogant, sinful persons who always indulge in barbarous activities will get relieved of their misdeeds and the corresponding negative energy by visiting Kashi once; they will regain all their joy and happiness in life.
Kashi is known as Muktipuree as a visit to this place is said to endow the visitor with salavation. This aspect is mentioned in the following stanza;
AyODhyA MaThurA mAyA kAshee kAnchee avantikA|
Puree dwArAvatee chaivam saptaitA mOkShadAyikAha||
अयॊध्या मथुरा माया काशी कांची आवंतिका।
पुरी द्वारावती चैव सप्तैता मॊक्षदायिकाः॥

Kashi is one of the seven most distinguished holy places that are said to grant salvation. Names of those places are Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya, Kashi, Kanchi, Avantika, Puri and Dwaravati. The name of Kashi is mentioned in the middle among the holy places, which, according to scholars, enhances the value of Kashi among all holy places across the globe.
Aham kAsheem gamiShyAmi tattraiva nivasAmyaham|

अहं काशीं गमिष्यामि तत्त्रैव निवसाम्यहं।
इति ब्रुवा णः सततं काशीवास फलं लभॆत्॥

A mere pledge or decision to visit Kashi is as valuable as living in Kashi.
Kashi is also known as Varanasi, Avimukta, Anandakanana, Muktipuri and so on. Standing on the trident of Lord Shankara, Kashi will not be destroyed even after cataclysm or Pralaya. As it exists between two rivers named Varana and Asi, it came to be known as Varanasi. It is believed that “KAshyAm tu maraNAnmuktihi” (काश्यां तु मरणान्मुक्तिः), which means dying in Kashi is as good as attainment of salvation. Several elderly people throng Kashi every day. Kashi is also a well known centre for learning
Kashi is on the famous Grad Trunk Railway.

Hanuman pronounces the message of Srirama to Ravana/
Hanuman finally pronounces the exact message that Srirama had conveyed to Ravana: “Oh Ravana, you have stolen my wife Seetha. You deceitfully drove me and my brother Lakshmana away from our hermitage with the intention of stealing my wife. I am allowing you an opportunity to mend your mannerism, without paying serious attention to the pranks you have displayed. You should seek my apology for the mistakes committed by you and surrender Seetha at my feet. If you fail to do so, I, along with my brother Lakshmana, Sugreeva and his mammoth army of monkeys and bears will arrive in Lanka, destroy you and your entire family, friends and armed forces and take Seetha with me.”
Hanuman pauses for a while to study the impact of the message of his master on Ravana. Hanuman continues: “Ravana, you are perhaps not aware that a single arrow of Rama can precipitate the entire universe in a flash. Unable to face or confront Rama, you stealthily stole Seetha and claiming to be most powerful and courageous. You have the only option of surrendering to Rama. This is the strategic move. You should shun enmity with Rama if you wish to survive on earth.”
Ravana was enraged by the words of Hanuman and the message of Rama. He immediately ordered his officers and assistants to instantly kill Hanuman. The servants drew their weapons and got ready to kill Hanuman, when Vibheeshana, one of the brothers of Ravana, intervened and said:
“Dear brother, shed your fury and restore calmness. Please listen to me. This monkey is not your enemy by any stretch of imagination. He is after all a messenger from the enemy camp and he has literally conveyed the message of his master. The merits and demerits in that message belong to the master and not the messenger. If the words of his master deserve punishment, then his master deserves to be punished. None of the kings in the past or present have ever punished a messenger. Killing a messenger is most heinous and against moral principles. You are not only powerful, strong and courageous but also quite knowledgeable. Misdeeds committed in a fit of fury cannot be undone later. You are right in a way. This messenger has acted beyond the set duties and responsibilities of a true messenger. His deeds reflect the deeds of an enemy. Yet, he has declared himself to be a mere messenger and therefore no Scripture prescribes death sentence to a messenger. Honoring the established practices, respecting the Scriptures and caring for your universal status as the most powerful emperor, you may inflict a permanent injury to symbolically punish this monkey and tacitly send a strong reply to your enemy through this messenger. You can beat him with cane or punish him with lashes, tonsure him as alternative ways of punishment. If you kill him, you will not have the opportunity to erase your enemy as there will no one to carry your reply to your enemy. If you punish him physically and allow him to reach his master, you will have the opportunity to confront the enemy and take revenge on him.”
Ravana was finally convinced with the counseling of Vibheeshana and appreciated Vibheeshana for his timely guidance. He thought that the tail is the striking feature of monkeys and therefore ordered his servants to burn the tail of Hanuman, which would leave a permanent mark on the latter. As soon as Ravana ordered that the tail of Hanuman be burnt, the demons covered the tail of Hanuman with clothes. Hanuman started growing or lengthening his tail simultaneously and the demons could not fully cover it with clothes. They were tired and could not get adequate quantity of clothes. They poured oil on the clothes and set them ablaze.
Hanuman setting Lanka ablaze with the fire in his tail will be described in the next episode.

SUMMARY: For a bad tongue, even delicious meals, water and other items taste bitter. For a good tongue, all good food/juices always taste delicious. For Sri Hari, who has charming physique, all types of food/juices taste good always. Rice-brimming Sri Hari consumed the venomous breast milk fed by Putani. Will he not accept the food offered by us?
This stanza lays down the fact that for Sri Hari there is no discrimination among food items as good or bad. Everything offered to him with love and affection is good and tasty.
This attribute of Sri Hari has been described in the following stanza drawn from Vishnurahasya (Secrets of Vishnu):
JwaritO yaha pibEt kSheeram BhrAntyA vA pramayA(s)ThavA|
TiktamEva BhavEt tachcha jwaram chApi vivarDhayEt||

तिक्तमॆव भवॆत् तच्च ज्वरं चापि विवर्धयॆत्॥विष्णुरहस्य॥
It may be noted here that Sri Krishna allowed to be breast fed by Putani for two reasons. Primary reason was to kill her under the pretext of getting breast fed. He was well aware of the intentions of Putani. Her goal was to end the life of Sri Krishna. Secondly and more importantly, Sri Krishna sends a message to the good and bad people that he would, at all costs, protect the good and punish the evil. Moreover, Urvashi, the Apsara, was present in Putani.

SUMMARY: What is more! Lord Vayu consumed the strongest venom and saved the universe. One of his assistants Lord Shiva got the title as Elixir or Eternity. Husband of Lakshmi Sri Narayana receives good
as well as bad deeds but he is unaffected by them – he never gets richer or poorer by receiving them. What all he enjoys is the inherent taste.

SUMMARY: Lord Mahadeva married Parvati Devi, who was Satee Devi in her previous birth. Satee Devi took birth as a daughter of Himavanta and was living on the gold-brimming Kailas Parvat. She was a satisfied and happy. Lord Mahadeva is living in a place lying between Asee and Varanaa rivers. This place is an abode of spirits and vampires. Although this area is a burial ground and is inhabited by devils, it has become a popular and outstanding pilgrimage for many people because of the presence of Lord Mahadeva there.
Kashi is believed to be the oldest city on earth. The name of Kashi appears prominently in all the Vedas. Kashi is more popular as a prominent pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva.  However, according to all Scriptures and Puranas, Kashi is a pilgrim center dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was earlier dedicated to Lord Madhava. When Lord Rudra cut one of the five heads of Lord Brahma, the slayed head of Brahma got stuck in the palm of Rudra. Lord Rudra roamed about in Badari, Kurukshetra, Brahmahrada and other pilgrim centres to get rid of the head of Brahma but to no avail. However, as soon as he put his feet on the land of Kashi, the head of Brahma fell apart. The Brahmahatya sin associated with Lord Rudra also vanished. Later, Rudra sought the permission of Vishnu to stay in Kashi. In this place, tears of joy flows out of the eyes of Lord Rudra. In Skandapurana, the following Shloka describes Kashi vividly:
BhUmiShThApi na yatra bhUstridivatO(s)pyuchchairaDhahasThApi

GIST: May this holy city of Kashi, which is an exception to the kind of earthly cities, which, in spite of lying on earth, is holier than heavens, is limited geographically but relieves human beings from the clutches of birth and death, is located on the banks of the Holy River Bhageerathi, is adored by gods and goddesses, which is the abode of Lord Eshwara, protect us.
Even though Sri Vadirajaru has described Kashi in a single stanza, it is pregnant with meaning. More references to Kashi in holy texts will be furnished in the next episode. HAPPY CHANDRAMANA YUGADI TO ALL READERS.

SRI #RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S
SRI #RAMACHARITRYA #MANJARI
Conversation between Hanuman and Ravana/ಹನುಮಂತ-ರಾವಣರ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ
The demons vociferously abused and beat Hanuman, who was taken in a procession through the thoroughfares of Lanka. Citizens of Lanka stood by the roadsides, upon the terrace of their houses, tree branches and watched Hanuman without blinking their eyes. Hanuman did not react to any of the reactions of demons as he was determined to face Ravana. When Hanuman stood in front of Ravana, the latter showered questions that reflected his curiosity, excitement, fear as well as his mental agony: “Oh giant monkey, who are you? Where have you come from? Whose messenger are you? Why did you destroy my garden? You have killed my soldiers and many prominent leaders and inflicted huge loss of property in my empire. Why have you done all this?”
Hanuman offered prayers to Srirama in his mind, saluted Seetha Devi before replying to Ravana. Hanuman saw the face, complexion and the royal stature of Ravana and complimented him. Hanuman thought that if Ravana were to be without his vices and had shunned his unwarranted, unprovoked hatred of Vishnu and his devotees, he (Ravana) could have certainly ascended the throne of Lord Indra. Hanuman replied:
“You wicked, evil-minded Ravana, please note my name is Hanuman. I wonder why you did not make out that I am a monkey. I will let you in detail the reason for destroying your garden. As you are aware, monkeys live on fruits, which are our primary food. We, as monkeys, do not have any assistant or subordinate to fetch fruits for us. We should climb the trees and consume whatever fruits we get there. We have to leap from one tree to another to eat as many fruits as would suffice to satisfy our hunger. If the trees are week, they break due to the weight of our body and the force with which we jump on to them. I have not done anything wrong as the trees in your garden could not bear my weight and the trees or their branches are not at fault because I wantonly jumped on them to satisfy my hunger.
The reason for my killing your soldiers and army chiefs is self-defense. If someone attacks me, I have to either surrender or fight back to survive. I had to kill everyone who attacked me in self-defense. Now, I understand that those demons were directed by you to catch me. I want to know, why did you send those demons and armed forces to attack me? I have already clarified that I have not committed any sin or crime. In the light of those facts, I want to know the reason for you to get me caught or killed. In fact you have committed a crime by sending hundreds of demons after me with the sole intention of killing me and I have not committed any crime by eating fruits or by killing those who attacked me as my action was in self-defense.
Dear Ravana, you must have understood that I am quite powerful and strong after I killed Akshakumara and several others without any fuss or strain. You might be under the wrong impression that your son Indrajitu is very brave for he has caught me through Brahmastra. The fact is that I cannot be tied or arrested through any Astra/arrow. I wanted to honor Lord Brahma and therefore pretended to have been caught. Once your demon soldiers used ropes and clothes to bind me, the shackles of Brahmastra vanished. I could have easily cut the ropes and other things. I wanted to see you and that is why I pretended to have been caught.
Ravana, you want to know who has sent me here. For your information, I am the son of Lord Vayu and my name is Hanuman. You might have heard of Vali and I know that you had to spend some days in the palace of Vali as a doll to amuse Angada, son of Vali. You may also be aware of Vali’s brother Sugreeva. I am a Minister under Sugreeva. I have come here to see you and convey the message of Srirama to you.
Ravana, you are not familiar with the prowess of Srirama because you abducted Seetha Devi stealthily when Rama was not there in the hermitage. This proves that you are afraid of Srirama. Criminals have only one option of surrendering before the person who has been wronged.
Srirama has sent you the message that you should surrender Seetha back to him and seek his pardon. Otherwise, you have very less time because if you procrastinate, Srirama will reach here and kill you. Once Rama arrives here, you may be aware that you cannot protect your soldiers”.
