RI #RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S SRI #RAMACHARITRYA #MANJARI (ಶ್ರೀ #ರಾಘವೆಂದ್ರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿರಚಿತ “#ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮಂಜರಿ”)

SRI #RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S
SRI #RAMACHARITRYA #MANJARI
Conversation between #Seetha and #Hanumantha/ಸೀತಾ-ಹನುಮಂತರ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ
With Mystic Seetha already in the grip of fear due to the arrival of Ravana, his instructions to female demons to torment her and a state of confusion after Trijata narrated her dream, Hanumantha, who was just sitting on a branch above Seetha, thoroughly assessed the situation and thought of catching the attention of Seetha Devi by describing Srirama:
“Son of #Dasharatha, Srirama, is the overlord of all Lokas and is adorned with all the wealth and riches. His eyes are like the petals of lily. Like the oceans bear unlimited waters, all the virtues are inherent in Srirama. The goddess sitting in front of me is certainly his wife. He came to the forests as per the order of his father and she followed him due to her love for her husband. Ravana stole her. Along with his brother Lakshmana, Srirama has been searching for her and I am his messenger. Now, I have seen her. Oh Devi! Rama and Lakshmana are enquiring about your welfare through me, their servant. This is the actual truth.”
These words revived the dying spirits of Seetha. She pushed her hair to a side and looked up with excitement and expectation. Her eyes began fluttering and finally her sight was set on Hanumantha, who was sitting on a branch of the Ashoka tree under which she was sitting. Hanumantha had an oil red complexion and his clothes were sparkling like lightning. While Seetha was still pondering over the entire seen and trying to correlate the events that occurred since dusk, Hanumantha slowly descended from the tree branch, bowed his head and saluted her by folding his hands and joining the two palms in submission.
“Oh Goddess, you are staying amidst female demons and I want to know who are you? Are you the wife of Srirama? If you are his wife, we will be happy that all our efforts have finally yielded positive result. Shall I feel happy?”
Seetha replied:
“I am the daughter of #King Janaka and beloved wife of Srirama and my name is Seetha.”
Hanumantha, who was till then at a distance, moved close to her feet and said “I am honored.” But, pretending to be still suspicious, mystic Seetha moved backwards turned her face to a different side and became quiet.
“That day, you hoodwinked me in the guise of a saint. Today you have come in the guise of a monkey and trying to cheat me in another way by claiming to be a messenger of Srirama. If you are really a messenger of Srirama, quote a few prominent features of Srirama. Let us both become happy after you narrate those features and after I hear those features.”
Hanumantha: “Mother Earth is known for her tolerance; Sun is known for his light rays; Manmatha is known for his brightness and Devendra has the popularity of being the king of three Lokas. Each and every deity, god or goddess has one distinct virtue. There is no other person in the whole universe except Srirama who possesses all the virtues. The deities are just a reflection of one particular virtue that forms a part of his innumerable and infinite qualities.
Poets say Srirama has a complexion that is reminiscent of blue pearl; some say he is brave like lion; his eyes are like the beautiful petals of lotus. These are the limited perceptions of some poets. None has the comprehensive idea of the qualities that Srirama possesses. There are no objects anywhere in the universe or qualities in any other person that can be compared with what Srirama possesses. In fact, any comparison with Srirama is incomplete and futile. Dear mother, whatever I have told and will be telling you henceforth is true and I vouch for it.
There is absolutely no difference between his original form in Vaikuntha and the different forms of his various incarnations. Defects, fallacies and drawbacks, distress, pain, despair and dejection attributed to any incarnation of Lord Narayana are dogmatic and false. The body of Srirama has the best of features and his organs are exactly as per the Shastras and Scriptures. The body of Lakshmana has similar features and is equally charming. Our friendship was solemnized in Mount Rushyamuka. Srirama killed Vali, the brother of Sugreeva and the latter, in reciprocation of the gratis shown by Srirama, sent his entire army of monkeys throughout the earth and I am one among those monkeys. My name is Hanuman. I flew across the ocean as directed by Srirama. Here is the ring given by Srirama himself to be shown to you to make you believe my antecedents.
Mystic Seetha took the ring of Srirama with utmost devotion. She closely observed the name of Srirama in that ring and certain distinct features of the ring. She was finally convinced that the ring belonged to Srirama and that Hanumantha was the messenger of Srirama. She said:
“Oh monkey, I now believe that you are a messenger of Srirama and that you have come here to see me under the directions of Srirama. No other person can ever cross that vast sea, enter Lanka and see me without getting noticed by demons except you. Your deeds bear testimony for your power, courage, bravery, wisdom and dedication.”
Hanumantha later provided elaborate answers to various questions asked by Seetha about Srirama, Lakshmana, Sugreeva, army of Vanaras and other Vanara leaders. As Hanumantha was still wearing a tiny physique, Seetha expressed suspicion over his capacity to accomplish the future tasks of prompting Srirama to cross the ocean, kill Ravana and take her back. Hanumantha grew in his size and said that he had the capacity to lift the earth without any hardship. Seetha praised Hanumantha for his bravery, power, strength, spirit and wisdom.

Sri Vadirajaru has offered prayers and praised Holy Ganga in eight stanzas in this “Teertha Prabandha”. Each stanza is rich in meaning and sublime poetic fervor.

SUMMARY: Oh #Bhageerathi, it is a well-known fact that you are very kind to the pleading devotees because, when you first broke through Brahmanda, you went into to the water-vessel (Kamandalu) of Lord #Brahma and took shelter in his palm. Later, when Lord Brahma washed the feet of Lord Vishnu with your waters, you became holier and you came to be called as “Vishnupadi”. Subsequently, you went away into the #Heavens. From there, you felt very happy after reaching the tip of Mount Meru.
Later or, even though you took shelter in the plaited hair of Lord Shiva, you descended to Earth and you are now happily fulfilling the desires of human beings. To descend from a place of high status, shift to a new place and shower kindness on the downtrodden is a testimony for your empathy.

SUMMARY: The Ganga, who wears red and blue colors at her birthplace of the feet of Lord Vishnu due to the bright and radiant colors of the heals and upper portion of the feet of Lord Narayana, acquires blood red and dark blue colors in midway due to the Vermilion (Kunkum) and Saffron (Kesari) that goddesses and deities apply on their cheeks and breasts and take a dip in her waters, shines brighter due to the radiation in the throat portion of serpents that adore the tress of hair of Lord Shiva. Thus, this Great and Grand Ganga appears as though she had relationship with Saraswati and Yamuna rivers from her origin.
Ganga is considered to be holiest by Indians. Her earthly origin is believed to be Gangotri from where she flows about 1,500 miles to join the sea. After travelling from Deva Prayag to Uttara Kashi, one should cover a distance of about 50 miles to reach Gangotri, the origin of Ganga. The Gomukha, which is the real birthplace of Ganga, is about 18 miles away from Gangotri.  However, it is not easy for everyone to go to Gomukha. Spelling the name of Ganga, remembering her alone can open the path of Moksha or salvation. What else can be said about those taking a dip in Ganga? It is not necessary to take bath at the place of her origin. Taking bath anywhere in her flow-line of 1,500 miles is auspicious, sacred and spiritually valuable.

SRI #RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S SRI #RAMACHARITRYA #MANJARI (ಶ್ರೀ #ರಾಘವೆಂದ್ರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿರಚಿತ “#ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮಂಜರಿ”)

SRI #RAMACHARITRYA #MANJARI
While the female demons continued to torture and frighten mystic Seetha in different ways, she wept aloud saying “Oh! Rama, where are you? When will I see you and when will I be relieved from this misery?” The female demons, instead of pitying, told her “We will seek the permission of Ravana to eat you up”. Meanwhile, an elderly female demon named TrijaTa, who was asleep till then, suddenly woke up. She had a very pure heart and mind. She told all the other female demons:
“You, brutal women! You are telling that you are going to eat her. Instead, it is time you eat your own bodies. No more trouble will touch her. She has no reason to be sorrowful. The dream I just dreamt bears testimony for this.”
The female demons immediately stopped torturing Seetha Devi and evinced interest in knowing what Trijata had dreamt. Trijata saluted Srirama in her heart and started narrating the dream:
“Srirama swallowed the Earth and drank blood. He roamed about in a palanquin decorated with thousands of swans and created with elephant tusks. He moved around happily along with Lakshmana and Seetha Devi in Pushpak plane. Seetha sat on a white hill wearing a white sari and a garland of white garland. The white mountain appeared like an ocean and she was appearing like the moon rising from the sea. Srirama and Lakshmana were sitting on a giant elephant with four tusks. After seeing him, Seetha jumped on to the elephant and then sat on the lap of Srirama. I saw all these scenes in my dream.
I saw Ravana falling from the Pushpaka Plane. A low-born man and widows were trying to pull Ravana, who had tonsured his head and was wearing black clothes. Driving a chariot driven by donkeys, Ravana was wearing a garland of red flowers. Travelling towards the south, Ravana fell into a drain of dirty water. Ravana was sitting on a pig, Indrajitu was sitting on a crocodile and Kumbhakarna was sitting on a camel. The trio was moving towards the south. These women around Seetha were wearing red clothes and laughing wryly. Bearing a white umbrella on his head and surrounded by four Ministers, Vibheeshana was sitting on a white mountain.
I saw many dreams of similar nature and all those dreams indicate that Seetha will soon get wealth and demons will soon be doomed. Adorned with pleasant features, this Seetha Devi does not deserve to be sad. While I am narrating my dreams, crows are cawing which indicates that Seetha Devi will soon realize all her desires.”
Seetha too experienced certain symbolic good omen indicating what Trijata was telling was true and real. Her left thigh shook a bit and her left eye fluttered.
Hanumantha, who was witnessing everything and listening everything, made up his mind to tell a few encouraging words to Seetha to convince her and impress her. He waited for female demons to sleep.
