SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S SRI RAMACHARITRYA MANJARI (ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೆಂದ್ರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿರಚಿತ “ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮಂಜರಿ”)

SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY’S
SRI RAMACHARITRYA MANJARI
(ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೆಂದ್ರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿರಚಿತ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯ ಮಂಜರಿ)
An insight into Shloka 7 -  Sundara Kanda elaborated
Sugreeva warned
The rainy season passed off and the Sharad Ritu set in. There was no denying the fact that Sugreeva had secured the throne of Kishkindha the hardest way. He was in the wilderness and was always under a threat from Vali. Now that he had the royal powers, the riches, the comfort and so much of attention, Sugreeva forgot about Srirama and the words to be kept up. He was always enjoying the company of women and it was up to Hanumantha to remind him about the “task” of finding out Seetha Devi. Hanumantha met Sugreeva and said:
“Oh Sugreeva! How can you forget Srirama who gave the access for all these pleasures, the women, the throne, the wealth and the luxury? A serpent with ego and false pride tends to forget those who fed milk to it. Similarly, you have forgotten the great help bestowed upon you my Srirama. People like you deserve to be punished by persons like me. Srirama is the overlord of the entire universe. There is nothing that we have to help him in any manner. It is our duty to understand his needs and serve to fulfill them on our own. Therefore, summon all the monkeys and start the preparations for searching Seetha Devi instantly.”
Sugreeva ordered Neela and other prominent Monkeys to summon all leaders of Monkey platoons. He instructed everyone that all monkeys should be in Kishkindha by the full moon day. “Whoever does not reach here within seven days from now will be severely punished,” Sugreeva declared.
Almost simultaneously, Srirama discussed with Lakshmana: “Dear Lakshmana, it appears that after obtaining the throne and the comforts of life, Sugreeva has forgotten us. The Sharad Ritu has set in and there is no indication for any efforts being put in by Sugreeva towards the accomplishment of the task he had agreed to do. You may go and repeat what my words: ‘Oh Sugreeva, beware that the arrow that killed Vali can kill you too, if you fail to keep up your promise of finding out Seetha Devi’ and let me know his reaction.”
But, Lakshmana is known for impatience and short temper. He said: “Dear brother, I will first kill that monkey because he has enslaved himself to lust and worldly pleasures and has forgotten us. There is no doubt that Seetha Devi will be searched out even if that monkey is killed.” Lakshmana rushed out in a hurry to set Sugreeva right.
The monkeys saw Lakshmana entering the palace frivolously and even reported it to Sugreeva, who did not pay any attention. He did not come out of the palace room to see Lakshmana, which further enraged Lakshmana. Meanwhile, Angada came, prostrated in front of Lakshmana, even as his hands and legs were trembling with fear. Lakshmana was empathetic towards Angada and told him that he wanted to convey the message of Srirama to Sugreeva. He asked Angada to inform Sugreeva about his arrival and the intention. The Monkeys around started screaming in utter fear, which woke up Sugreeva and brought his senses back. Sugreeva claimed that he had not done any wrong to Srirama and that Srirama was unnecessarily getting angry. Hanumantha reminded Sugreeva once again about the pending task of searching Seetha Devi. Meanwhile, Lakshmana dashed into the harem, ignoring the presence of door keepers, and saw Sugreeva in the embrace of his wife Rume and Vali’s wife Tara. Sugreeva was frightened after seeing the fierce face of Lakshmana. He saluted Lakshmana with both hands folded, apologised and took Lakshmana into his residence. Lakshmana told Sugreeva: “Oh Monkey, you had vouched with Fire God as witness that after securing the throne of Kishkindha with the help of Srirama, you would employ the Monkeys to search for Seetha. Lord Brahma, Rudra and all the deities yearn to serve Srirama, who is capable of accomplishing any task independently as he is the overlord of this universe. The whole universe worships Srirama. There is nothing that a silly bloke like you can favor Srirama by helping him in searching Seetha Devi.”
Seeing the mood of Lakshmana, Tara told Lakshmana, on behalf of Sugreeva: “Respected Lakshmana, Sugreeva has certainly not forgotten his duty or responsibility. Vali had told me that Ravana has abducted Seetha Devi and it is not possible to get Seetha Devi back without killing millions of soldiers of Ravana. Sugreeva has instructed his prominent Monkeys to bring all the Monkeys to Kishkindha. Sugreeva will definitely take appropriate action in this regard.”
Sugreeva also confessed that he would soon arrange for the search operation.”
Lakshmana was further informed by Sushena and other Ministers of Sugreeva  that action would soon be initiated in the direction of finding out Seetha Devi.
Lakshmana was convinced and returned to Rama.

SUMMARY: The Sun’s rays enter the different pearls without changing their real colors but makes them appear like having different colors for those who see them; similarly, Sri Hari, the beloved of Sri Lakshmi, remains within the three types of beings in the three Lokas and roams about in their lives in accordance with their capacity and the past deeds (Karma).
This stanza once again clarifies and emphasizes the fact that there is no question of discrimination on the part of Sri Hari. There is no difference in the Sun’s rays that enters different pearls but the different arises only in the eyes of onlookers of those who see them. The radiation that emanates from different pearls appear differently to the people. The reason behind this phenomenon is the stange composition of the pearls, their in-built shape and the way the Sun’s rays spread out. Sri Hari is the motivator and the beings act according to their inherent capacity, perception and the impact of their past deeds. Sri Hari does not love anyone too much nor does he hate anyone. Emotional misgivings, ambiguity in behavior, senseless sensibilities are determined by one’s own Karma. Unless this “Truth” is realized, human beings cannot “correct” themselves by offering prayers to the Lord and get rid of their fallacies.

SUMMARY: Discarding the Water-clock cup that absorbs the water, Sri Hari pulls the rope to ring the disc-bell (JagaTe). In other words, he is “doer”; he divides the Punya and Papa (positive energy of good deeds and negative energy of bad deeds, which are together known as Karma) between the groups of deities and demons, feeds them their share and he remains the sole witness.
“GhaLigebaTTalu” refers to the ancient chronometer by which the time was being calculated. Bhagavata provides some evidence for the existence of such a device. Although the device used to absorb the water, the sound of the disc-bell was being employed to indicate the hours. Whoever commits the act, Sri Hari decides the result of those acts as he is the sole motivator of acts as well as results.
After the elixir emerged out of the Grand Churning of Mount Meru, it was Lord Hari who distributed it according to the psychology of the recipients. The Minds of demons were “corrupt” and hence they were denied a share in the elixir.

SUMMARY: Who can ever describe the greatness of Sri Chakrateertha? This Sri Chakrateertha makes anyone coming in contact with it, even if a rock that has no knowledge or any sort of attribute comes in contact with it, salute to it (Sri Chakrateertha) with reverence and devotion.
It is said that stone pieces that fall into Chakrateertha are transformed into Saligrama with various holy symbols. These Saligramas are worshipped as the deities manifest in these Saligramas. It is also believed that puja offered to Saligramas is more auspicious than the worship offered to idols of deities.

SUMMARY: This sacred place called Shankhoddhara Teertha, which, despite being covered with sins, bereft of pure spiritual knowledge, drowned in the ocean of family, most of the time, releases the soul from cycles of birth and death whenever a person visits this place. To make the Earth aware of this holy factor or phenomenon, it appears, Lord Sri Krishna lifted up this conch.
Panchajanya is the name of the Conch that Lord Sri Krishna is always adorned with. Earlier, a demon named Panchajana was occupying this Conch. It was lying in the middle of a deep sea and naturally, it has no knowledge. Since it was pure and dedicated in the heart by community, Lord Sri Krishna killed the demon and
lifted the Panchajanya Conch out of that sea. Sri Shankhoddhara Teertu is the place where Sri Krishna had rescued it from the clutches of demon Panchajana and the sea. Therefore, Sri Shankhoddhara Teertha is very sacred.

SUMMARY: Srirama spent four months in a cave in MalyavAn hill; he summoned distinguished Monkey heads and sent them off in ten directions to search for Seetha; later, Sri Hanumantha found Seetha Devi and informed Srirama about the place where she was found and her status; Srirama listened whatever Sri Hanuman said and along with Sugreeva and his large army, travelled towards the South; on the way he was approached by Vibheeshana, one of the brothers of ten-headed Ravana (Dashanana); Srirama honored Vibheeshana; as requested by King of Seas, Srirama constructed a bridge across the ocean and laid seize on Lanka City and killed all the demons, along with Ravana. He was well assisted by all the monkeys or Vanaras; may that Lord Rama protect me.”
Sri Raghavendra Swamy has narrated the entire Sundarakanda of Ramayana in this stanza. Sundarakanda is the holiest and enthralling canto among the seven cantos, besides Uttarakanda.
Srirama, as said earlier, lived in a cave in Malyavan hill for four months. Later, through Lakshmana, he summoned Sugreeva and instructed him to send separate platoons of monkeys to ten directions and get Seetha Devi searched. After all the platoons departed, except the one led by Angada in which Hanumantha was a part, Srirama handed over a ring to Hanumantha and told him to give it to Seethadevi. The platoon under the charge of Angada, which included Sri Hanumantha, reached Mount Mahendra on shores of southern sea. Hanumantha left all the monkeys on the sea shores and flew across the sea, reached Lanka, saw Vedavathi, who was looking like Seetha Devi; Vedavathi was sitting under an Ashoka Tree in the royal garden, met her and handed over the ring that Srirama had given. He collected the Chudamani given by Vedavati, saluted her, demolished the garden, killed Akshayakumara and other demons, set Lanka ablaze with the fire in his tail and returned to the sea shore where Angada and other Varanas were waiting for him. Srirama respectfully received Vibheeshana, brother of Ravana, who had been driven out by Ravana for showing allegiance to Rama. As requested by Varuna, God of Waters, Srirama killed some demons, who had taken birth in the hunters’ community, got a bridge constructed by Monkeys, crossed the ocean on the bridge and attacked Lanka. This is the gist of the stanza. Intricate aspects of the stanza will be narrated in the next episodes.

SUMMARY: All the gods, goddesses and deities praised the most distinguished, exemplary student-master relationship between Sri Vyasaru and Sri Madhwacharyaru, who could instantly and easily grasp the subtlest, most intricate, comprehensive and scholarly explanations that Sri Vedavyasaru was passing on as he could not share such deep knowledge and subject with anyone else; that is why, Sri Hari had special grace on Sri Madhwaru.
Lord Sri Hari continuously imparts grandest philosophy in intelligle manner. But, no deity, with the sole exception of Lord Vayu, is capable of perceiving the explicit yet inexplicable lessons in spirituality. Lord Hari has special affliction towards Lord Vayu, who is the lone disciple to absorb it and also spread it across human race. Lord Hari imparts different knowledge to different gods, goddesses and disciples, depending upon the perceptive capacity, which is the highest in the case of Lord Vayu.

SUMMARY: Like Lord Sri Krishna enriched the already rich City of Dwaraka, Sri Vedavyasaru enriched the mind of Sri Madhwaru, which was already rich with supreme knowledge. It is a real wonder that like Dwaraka City, the mind of Sri Madhwaru absorbed the rarest knowledge imparted by Sri Vedavyasaru.
It may be recalled that demons like Narakasura attacked Dwaraka and plundered the wealth of that city. But, Sri Krishna kept on filling Dwaraka with all the riches. Similarly, Sri Poornaprajnaru, who was already “Poorna” or brimming with “Prajna”, the most intricate spiritual knowledge, became richer after meeting Sri Vedavyasaru. Lord Vayu is an eternal disciple of Lord Hari and their Guru-Shishya or Master-Student relationship is eternal too.
The wealth that Lord Sri Krishna poured into Dwaraka has been explained or described in Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya (21/108, 109) as follows:
