SUMMARY: Divine River Ganga, who originated from the toe end of Lord Hari, clears the negative energy of sins in three Lokas. Do the innumerable names of Lord Hari, the consort of Sri Lakshmi, that bestow pure and infinite welfare through his organs and sub-organs
not clear the sins?
In this stanza, the poet emphasizes that while Ganga, who was born out of the toe end of Lord Hari, can cleanse the sins of all beings in three Lokas namely Earth, Heaven and Nether World, the spelling of the various names of Lord Hari cleanse the sins across the universe.
Ganga was born out of the toe end of Lord Hari. When she has so much of mystic power, the power of Lord Hari, the originator of Ganga, is beyond description. There is a limit for the names of Ganga. There is no such limit for the names by which Lord Hari can be addressed.
In Krushnamrutamaharnava, the sin-dispelling power of Lord Hari is described in a very beautiful way:
NAmnO(s)sti yAvatee shaktirpApanirharaNE HarEhe|
TAvat kartum na shaknOti pAtakam pAtakeejanaha||

ತಾವತ್ ಕರ್ತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾತಕಂ ಪಾತಕೀಜನಃ||
The power of Hari to dispel sins that each name of Lord Hari possesses is so much that even rank sinners cannot commit sins of that magnitude or variety.
Sri Purandara Dasaru says in one of his Keertanas:
GangAdisakalateerThangaLigaDhika Sreehariya nAma
The divinity of the names of Hari is more than the divinity of Ganga and other holy rivers.
The word “IngaDalamagaLoDeya” can be substantiated thus: Ingadalu means the Cosmic Ocean of Milk called Ksheerasagara. Daughter of Ksheerasagara is Sri Lakshmi and her husband is Lord Hari or Lakshmeepati.

SUMMARY: Goddess Mukambika, who is kind and sympathetic, fulfills desires, loves ardent devotees of Lord Vishnu, made my enemies dumb.
It is said that a few people were envious of the mystic powers and popularity of Sri Vadirajaru. A few of them were Brahmins from Taulava or Tulu-speaking region; some were saints. All those envious people once sent a boy to Kolluru and told him to live there in a secret place, without getting noticed by anyone. Later, they spread a false allegation that Sri Vadirajaru had tortured and killed that boy. Goddess Mookambika then beat that boy with a whip in dreams as well as during daytime. She frightened the boy by luring him to be bitten by snakes. She told the boy: “Do not stay here. Go to Vadiraja Muni.” Ignoring the threat some wicked people unleashed on him, the boy met Sri Vadirajaru, explained to him whatever had transpired. Sri Vadirajaru showed that boy to the public so as to remove the mistaken opinion of people.
According to another source, a sage called Kola appealed to Goddess Mookambika to kill a demon named Kamha and she killed the demon. Sri Mookambika silenced some of the jealous detractors of Sri Vadirajaru. Therefore, she came to be known as Sri Mookambika.
By fulfilling all the desires of her devotees, the Goddess made her devotees dumbfounded or speechless. She also silenced those who were playing silly tricks to defame Sri Vadirajaru. Therefore, she came to be known as Mookambika, where “Mooka” means dumb. She would also expose the enemies by exposing their wicked deeds so that they bowed their heads in utter shame.

SUMMARY: Goddess Durga, who visits earth now and then to kill enemy demons and frequents the sky regularly, shines like a ball.
It is said that “KaAtyAyanee kandukavadviBhAti” had been given as a problem in an assemblage of scholars and Sri Vadirajaru decoded it in his own inimitable way.
While playing with ball, it keeps moving from one team to another. Sometimes it moves in strange manner and when kicked with raw force, the ball springs up into the open sky. Similarly, Mookambika Devi visits earth to liberate the world from the torture of demons. She also roams about in the space or sky. If the demons living on earth run into the sky with their mystic power, Mookambika chases them and kills them in the battle. Therefore, she has been compared to a ball.
Kollur is about 30 miles from Kundapur. A temple dedicated to Mookambika is there at Kollur. In this shrine there is a Linga with gold lines.
Earlier, a sage named Kola was doing penance near Sahyadri mountain range. Lord Eshwara was impressed by his penance and appeared in front of the sage. Lord Eshwara told the sage that later, Lakshmi Devi would bless him and the place would be called after his name, Kolluru. After some years, a demon called Kamhasura worshipped Bhairavi Devi and secured a boon of not getting killed by anyone. The demon threw sage Kola, who was in deep meditation, to a distance and began living there. When the demon started torturing common people, Tripurabhairavi descended there to kill Kamhasura, who fled to Rushyamooka Mountain. Later, demon Mahishasura defeated Indra and began troubling pious people. Meanwhile, sage Kola woke up from meditation, realized that he had been thrown away by Kamhasura. He saw that Kamhasura and Mahishasura were troubling good people. Sage Kola worshipped Lakshmi Devi and requested her to relieve the world from the tyranny of Kamhasura and Mahishasura. Goddess Lakshmi came there, killed Mahishasura. Eshwara, who had come down to witness the battle between Lakshmi and Mahishasura, created Sri Chakra with divine radiation in the form of a Linga and adored it with the divine presence of Lakshmi Devi. The Goddess also killed another demon called Vetrasura and dissolved into the Jyotirlinga in the form of Sri Chakra light. When Eshwara was about to present boons to Kamhasura, who had done penance, the deities appealed to Sri Lakshmi to prevent Kamhasura from securing the desired boons. Accordingly, Sri Lakshmi made him dumb. Since then, Kamhasura came to be known as Mookasura and the Goddess as Mookambika. Mookasura became very furious for not succeeding in his attempt to secure boons and started creating trouble in the entire universe. Mahalakshmi again descended, killed him and entered the Jyotirlinga. The greatness and divine quality of Kollur Kshetra finds mention in Skanda Purana.
Kollur is said to be a very powerful Shaktipeetha. Sri Sankara also visited this place, consecrated a Sri Chakra and an idol of Mookambika here.

As mentioned in the above Shloka, Udupi, Subrahmanya, Kumbhasi, Koteshwara, Krodashankaranarayana, Gokarna and Mookambika are the seven most powerful holy places. Of these, only Gokarna is in north Karnataka district and six are in Dakshina Kannada district alone.

Having seen all the demons and their chiefs killed by Srirama alone, Shurpanakha began crying aloud and reached Lanka. Wailing like a heifer being put to sword as sacrificial animal, she fell at the feet of Ravana and said: “Oh brother, you have become proud and overconfident. You have lost control on your senses and body. You are only a king for name’s sake. You are a titular head of demons as you are bereft of any trait to adore this throne of Lanka. Srirama single handedly killed Khara, Dushana, Trishiras, along with the entire army of 14,000 demons in Janasthana after cutting my ears and nose. Unmindful of any of these developments, you are staying here like a corpse.”
Ravana felt like what a snake would feel after being hit with a club. He was enraged. He roared: “Did you say Rama? Who is that Rama?” Shurpanakha trembled in pretentious fear and said: “He is said to be the son of Dasharatha and is unmatched in this universe. He killed all the demons alone with a single bow as if it was just a fun. Who can describe his bravery? His brother is Lakshmana, who cut my ears and nose. Rama’s wife Seetha is most charming and deserves to be your wife. Rama is proving to be detrimental to demon community. It is time for you to wake up and save our community.”
A demon named Avikampa, who was among the fourteen thousand demons killed by Rama in Janasthana, had survived and run to Lanka. He had also described the massacre of demons at Janasthana by Srirama.
Earlier, Sri Parashurama had launched twenty-one expeditions across the earth and killed all the Kshatriya kings. Although he was untouched by the negative energy of such butchery as he is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he still performed several sacrifices, especially because he had taken birth in a Brahmin family. While performing the sacrifices, he gifted away all the kingdoms to Brahmins. When he was told that he had no right to live on the land he had donated to Brahmins, he threw his battle axe across the sea by standing on Sahyachala mountain range. The sea shrunk to the extent that battle axe had reached and converted into land, which is now known as Parashurama Kshetra, which includes Gokarna. This entire region is full of flora and fauna and most attractive on earth.
During the protection of sacrifice that was performed by Vishwamitra, Srirama had not killed  Mareecha.  With Vayuvya Astra, Mareecha had been thrown to a far off place in Gokarna region, where be started living like a saint. He had become aware of the power of Srirama and the penury his arrows could cause.
Ravana came to Mareecha and prompted him, initially by praising him and later by frightening and threatening him with life, to entice Seetha and drive away Rama and Lakshmana to a long distance from the Ashram so that he could abduct Seetha. Mareecha cautioned Ravana about the prowess of Srirama in several ways. But, the destiny had already decided about the things to happen.
Mareecha had no better option than disguising like a golden deer to entice Seetha Devi. But, Seetha Devi was aware of all these things. She wanted to be a part of the drama that was to unfold with her abduction. She knew that her fake abduction would lay the foundation for the destruction of all demons in the near future. The enactment of her abduction will be explained in the next episode.

SUMMARY: I cannot see anyone else anywhere in Brahmanda who can match Lord Sri Hari, the consort of Goddess Lakshmi, in pardoning or tolerating the sins. Did he count on the sins committed by Gopa, wife of his Guru, Bhrugu Maharishi, Lord Shiva, the NagachApa? He is an ocean of kindness.
Pardoning sins is another face of kindness. The kindness of deities is greater than that of human beings. Yet, the kindness of Lord Hari cannot be matched by any of the deities and that is because none can pardon the sins like Lord Hari.
GOpa means Nandagopa. “GO” means heaven and “Pa” means protect and it means the protector of heavens or Lord Indra. Nandagopa believed that Lord of Universe Sri Krishna was his son, which was a sin. The shepherds and cowboys in Gokul treated Him as a fellow being. Lord Indra was among the deities who appealed to Lord Narayana to take an incarnation and destroy the demons. Indra knew that Lord Krishna was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu with a mission. The purpose of this incarnation was welfare of deities and the virtuous. But, Indra pounded rains that prompted Lord Krishna to lift the Govardhana Hill in his last finger to show to Indra in particular and the universe in general that he was omnipotent. In another instance, Lord Krishna wanted to take Parijata, a flower in the garden of Indra. But, Indra had the audacity of waging a war on Krishna.
Wife of Guru refers to Tare, the wife of Divine Guru Sri Bruhaspatyacharyaru. She had an intercourse with Lord Moon, which was a heinous sin. Lord Hari pardoned her and purified her. At the outset, it may appear that what Tare had committed was only a sin against her husband. But, in a deeper sense, the sin was against the tenets of life, the principles of husband and wife that have been set by Lord Hari and therefore it was a wrong committed against Lord Hari.
In another sense, Dasharatha is the Guru of Srirama as he was the father. What Kaikeyi, wife of Dasharatha, committed has been clearly considered as a ‘capital sin’. Yet, Lord Hari bestowed salvation upon her.
The instance of Bhrugu is explained in Bhagavata (10/89/8):
AThO jagAma vaikunTham yatra dEvO JanArdanaha|
ShayAnam shriya utsangE padA vakShasyatADayat||
Bhrugu Maharishi enters the Vaikuntha, when Lord Vishnu was asleep with his consort. Without the least civic sense, Bhrugu kicked Lord Hari at the naval. Instead of getting angry, Lord Hari blessed Bhrugu. Later, Bhrugu was born as a hunter named Jara.
Nagachapa” is a title of Lord Rudra for using a huge hill as a bow. Lord Rudra challenged Srirama to have a fight after the latter killed Ravana. This was because Lord Rudra thought Srirama had insulted him by killing his ‘ardent’ devotee, Ravana. In Dwaparayuga, Lord Rudra was in the form of AshwatthAma and insulted, ill-treated, condemned and hurt Lord Krishna, besides releasing Narayanastra on Bheema, Arjuna and other Pandavas to destroy them.
The ‘sins’ referred in this stanza should not be compared with sins of human beings. Most of the deities involuntarily commit suicides to show to humanity the greatness of Lord Hari. These sins are nothing but lessons to humanity and the negative energy of such sins never touch the deities. However, human beings are known to commit sins every moment:
AparADhasahasrANi kriyantE(s)harnisham mayA|

Oh Lord, thousands of sins are committed by me day-in and day-out. Lord Purushottama, Lord of Lords, please pardon me for all those sins.

SUMMARY: You have solid thighs, waist and good naval; the serpent adoring your chest is worthy of being worshipped and prayed; you are adorned with very bright jewels. Your complexion wears the color of conch and sky; you are fabulous, without any defect or fallacy and I salute you, Sri Shankaranarayana.

Sri Krodashankaranarayana Kshetra is almost in the middle of Kundapur. It is about 16 miles from the western sea on Kundapur-Shivamogga route. From this place, Western Ghats is about 16 miles and 34 miles from Udupi. From Kollur, it is about 26 miles and from Koteshwar about 14 miles. In the Pushkara khanda of Padmpurana, as many as 24 chapters are dedicated to this holy place.
Earlier, two demons named Khara and Ratta wanted to take revenge against Indra for allegedly killing their father Jambha. Therefore, they did penance to please Lord Rudra and when the Lord appeared, they demanded that they should not die except from a person having Hari and Hara in a single body. Lord Shiva granted the boon and they began terrorizing the universe, killing the spirituous and pious and destroying towns and cities. Lord Brahma directed Sage Narada to preach ChArvAka philosophy to Khara and Ratta. Due to the influence of that philosophy, the duo despised the existence of God and claimed that they were the Gods. Aniruddha and Vamadeva, Pradyumna and Sadyojata, Sankarshana-Aghora, Tatpurusha and Vasudeva did penance in praise of Narayana and Shankara by assuming the forms of Jamadagni, Mandavya, Agastya, Lomasha and Kodamuni, when Narayana appeared by their left side and Shankara by their right. They took the incarnation of Shankaranarayana in the form of Linga. Sri Shankaranarayana killed Khara and Ratta for the welfare of the universe and then stayed in the form of two separate Ligas to bless the devotees and fulfill their desires. Although Shankara and Narayana appeared separately, the demons were caught in an illusion that they were one. Some school of thought is of the view that because their task was common, the two Lingas integrated to appear as one Linga.
